TP53 and Alzheimer disease: Although previous analyses of postmortem AD brains have revealed increased p53 expression in overlapping populations of cortical neurons, and cortical and white matter glial cells in regions damaged by neurodegeneration [51]–[53], we found no significant differences in TP53 gene expression in the STG, one of the most vulnerable regions in AD, in individuals stratified by increasing severity of AD dementia or AD neuropathology.
