This study identified six clinical variables and associated the following threshold values in a cohort of 158 patients; age ≥ 80, clinical disease severity, white cell count ≥ 20 × 103 mcL or C-Reactive protein ≥ 150 mg/L, urea ≥ 15 mmol/L and serum albumin ≤ 20 g/L which could be used in combination to score the relative risk of death in patients with CDI. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is clostridium difficile infection.
