In contrast, when insoluble aggregated tau is extracted from tauopathy brain, at least 16 phosphorylated residues have been found in PSP (11–13), and approximately 45 different serine, threonine, and tyrosine phosphorylation sites, representing more than 50% of all phosphorylatable residues, have been found in AD brain (10, 14–17). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
