TSP-1 is a 450 kDa multimeric glycoprotein originally studied as a protein released from thrombin stimulated platelets; however, it is now reported that TSP-1 is expressed by many cell types, such as mesenchymal cells, tumor cells, fibroblasts, osteoblasts, adipocytes, endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, monocytes and macrophages [2–6]. This evidence concerns the gene THBS1 and neoplasm.
