Importantly, treatment with AZD9362 also enhanced the anti-tumor effects of the AKT inhibitor against MCF-7 xenografts (Figure 7D), suggesting that combined inhibition of IGF-IR/InsR and AKT should be more effective than either agent alone in treating ER+ breast cancers that adapt to estrogen deprivation.
