To confirm the observed interaction of PKCα and ER signaling on estrogen responsive promoters, we examined levels of a subset of estrogen responsive genes (lactotransferrin, pS2/TFF1, and c-fos) implicated in proliferation of normal and transformed endometrial cells and linked to the development of endometrial carcinoma [11, 33, 34, 40, 41]. The gene discussed is TFF1; the disease is endometrial carcinoma.
