The possibility that hypertension treatment improves keloids is supported by several reports that show that inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) via captopril effectively treats keloids and hypertrophic scars.5,6 Similarly, in our case, the chest keloids, which were not treated directly by surgery and radiation, appeared to have improved (in terms of their redness and elevation) after 2 years of ACE inhibition (Fig 4). This evidence concerns the gene ACE and hypertensive disorder.
