INS and autoimmune disease: These included 10 novel associations identifying genes that are linked to primary pathways of these autoimmune diseases, specifically 6 genes involved in pancreatic function, insulin pathways and immune-cell function in type 1 diabetes; 4 genes (in 3 association regions) functioning in pro- and anti-inflammatory pathways in Crohn's disease; and 1 gene involved in apoptosis pathways in rheumatoid arthritis.
