PTEN and Sepsis: We did not observe this slight but significant increase in glucose levels up to 150 mg/dl (in sepsis glucose levels may rise 2–3-fold higher) in fasted PTEN −/− animals before the animals go into metabolic shock and glucose levels drop below detectable levels (6–8 h post LPS challenge <20 mg/dl; for comparison in non-fasted animals see [12]).
