Papillary thyroid cancer is characterized by chromosal rearrangements, through which the promoter and the primary sequences of a genes (R1α- NcoA4- RFG5- hTIF1- CCDC6- RFG7/hTIFR) are transferred to the terminal sequences of the RET gene, developing a fusion gene. The gene discussed is CCDC6; the disease is thyroid gland papillary carcinoma.
