Except for a higher prevalence of alcoholism in the male patients, no significant difference was observed between men and women with HCV-associated HCC in terms of cirrhosis, tumor number, largest tumor size, ascites, alpha-fetoprotein, albumin, bilirubin, prothrombin time, creatinine, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The gene discussed is F2; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
