SELE and cancer: E-selectin, primarily expressed by inflamed endothelial cells, has been extensively studied for its role in leukocyte recruitment in response to vascular injury24 as well as CTC adhesion.12,20 P-selectin is a granule protein expressed by both platelets and endothelial cells, and therefore has been linked to the adhesion of platelets,15 leukocytes,25 and cancer cells21 to the endothelium.
