When enrolled into the study, 27 SSc patients (30%) were being treated with calcium channel blockers (CCBs), 33 (37%) with pentoxyphylline, 12 (14%) with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs), 4 (5%) with sildenafil and 13 (15%) with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The gene discussed is ACE; the disease is systemic sclerosis.
