Further clustering results indicated that most of the tumors overexpressing mTOR (subtypes a, b, and c) also highly expressed VEGFR2 and PDGFRβ (Fig. 3E), which strongly supports a potential synergistic effect of the mTOR inhibitors combined with sorafenib in HCC [37]–[39]. The gene discussed is MTOR; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
