Flow cytometric analysis of the cell surface markers CD11c, CD11b, and Gr-1 demonstrated significant increases in the numbers of CD11c−CD11b+ recruited macrophages, CD11c+CD11b+ myeloid DCs, CD11c+CD11b− alveolar macrophages, and Gr-1hiCD11b+ neutrophils infiltrating the lungs at a late stage of infection (10 and 13 weeks) (Figure S2B). The gene discussed is ITGAX; the disease is infection.
