A recent observation using a diabetic cardiomyopathy rat model reveals that the GLP-1 analog liraglutide improved cardiac function, which is accompanied with a decrease in activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4) and TNF receptor associated factor 2 (TRAF2) and the down-regulation of Grp78 and caspase-3. The gene discussed is TRAF2; the disease is diabetic cardiomyopathy.
