TLR4 SNPs have shown an association with increased risk of many infections and diseases including mortality from systemic inflammatory response syndrome, severe acute infections, Gram-negative septic shock [10, 11], respiratory syncytial virus bronchiolitis [24], and ischemic stroke [25], as well as with the host susceptibility to autoimmune process in human [26]. Here, TLR4 is linked to systemic inflammatory response syndrome.
