TP53 and neoplasm: Crucially, SG511-BECN treatment failed to inhibit not only proliferation of human normal MNCs and hepatic L02 cells but also normal hematopoietic colony formation, consistent with previous reports in which oncolytic adenovirus has the capability to selectively replicate in tumor cells not in normal cells in a p53-dependent [53] or -independent manner [54], suggesting that the combination selectively kills leukemia cells while sparing normal cells.
