ITGA6 and breast cancer: Cisplatin treatment shifted this cellular hierarchy toward more differentiated cells by selectively targeting and down-regulating the stem cell markers CD49f and SSEA4 by 50–70% in the more invasive breast cancer cell lines (BT-549 and MDA-MB-231), whilst up-regulating the differentiation markers CK18, SMA, and β-tubulin by 10–130% (Figure 2; Table 4).
