After resection of DSB ends, the resulting single-strand DNA ends are coated with replication protein A (RPA) and then RAD51 with the help of RAD52, breast cancer 2 (BRCA2) and Fanconi anemia (FANC) proteins; these proteins promote invasion and strand exchange with the homologous region on the sister chromatin. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA2 and Fanconi anemia.
