IGF2R and cancer: Conversely mTOR signalling can also be affected by HIF and hypoxia, HIF target genes involved in cell proliferation and viability (insulin-like growth factor receptor-2 and insulin-like growth factor receptor binding protein-1,[86]) can further amplify mTOR signalling, and hypoxia can directly impact on mTOR signalling at multiple points[63], in a mechanism where the crosstalk between two pathways can potentiate cancer development (Figure 6).
