While the mRNA level Nr5a1 was up-regulated 2.7-fold in the adenomas (Dataset 1), its downstream targets were overexpressed up to 23-fold in the tumors, including Angpt2, Cyp11a1, Cyp11b1, Cyp11b2, Giot1, Gnrhr, Nos1, Nr0b1/Dax1, Nr0b2, Scarb1. Also Fgf13 and Col18a1 were up-regulated, as reported in adrenal cancer cells [8], and so was Cited2, encoding for a co-activator of SF-1 during adrenal development [40]. Here, CYP11A1 is linked to adrenal gland cancer.
