Phosphorylation of Akt in PC-3 prostate cancer cells following incubation with THC (100 nM) or R-methanandamide (the hydrolysis-resistant analogue of anandamide, 100 nM) is also blocked by inhibition of phosphoinositide 3-kinase [10], suggesting that a similar pathway may be operative. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
