This ‘β-cell function’-pattern is associated with a genetic profile of T2D related genes including multiple risk alleles of the SNPs in the WFS1 and CDKN2A/2B[25] genes and protective alleles of the SNP in the TSPAN8/LGR gene [25], together with multiple numbers of risk alleles of the SNP in the T1D related gene RNLS[24] and the two SNPs (rs3842753 and rs689) from the insulin VNTR region. This evidence concerns the gene CDKN2A and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
