In humans, expression of PERILIPIN and FSP27/CIDEC in adipose tissue inversely correlates with insulin resistance (Puri et al, 2008), and insulin-sensitive obese individuals have higher levels of perilipin1 and CIDEC in adipose tissue than insulin-resistant subjects of the same weight, suggesting that higher expression of these proteins promotes TG storage in adipose tissue and protects from lipotoxicity. Here, INS is linked to Insulin resistance.
