Interest for nAChR in several epileptic syndromes previously considered “idiopathic” was rekindled by the finding that altered functional properties of nAChR are implicated in the pathogenesis of nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy (NFLE), and that seizures induced by nicotine in rodents model nAChR-related epilepsy. Here, CHRNA4 is linked to epilepsy syndrome.
