TP53INP1 expression has recently been found to be enhanced in prostate cancer cells after treatment with the pro-inflammatory mediators tumor necrosis factor α and interleukin 6, indicating that TP53INP1 overexpression could be involved in inflammation-mediated prostatic carcinogenesis (Giusiano et al., 2012). Here, TP53INP1 is linked to Familial prostate cancer.
