HLA-B and hyperuricemia: A previous study has indicated that MHC-class-I-mediated events, principally involving HLA-B*39, contribute to the etiology of type 1 diabetes.27 HLA alleles are associated with some of the strongest adverse drug reactions, for example, B*57:01 with Abacavir, which is used to treat HIV and AIDS,28 and B*58:01 with Allopurinol used primarily to treat hyperuricemia.29 Our results show that the predictions of B*57:01 and B*58:01 have 100% sensitivities and specificities with call rates >95% for Europeans.
