CAT and cholestasis: As to the main reason why BPEE administered at a dose of 100 mg/kg was less effective in protecting ANIT-induced liver damage with cholestasis than BPEE administered at a dose of 50 mg/kg, the following matters could be considered: BPEE (100 mg/kg) administered to ANIT-treated rats reduced hepatic catalase activity and was less effective in inhibiting neutrophil infiltration into the liver tissue than BPEE (50 mg/kg) administered to the treated rats.
