To further investigate whether E2-mediated changes in SELENBP1 protein influence the ability of Se to inhibit breast cancer growth, we used ERα specific siRNA to knock-down ER expression in MCF7 cells (shown in Figure S3 in File S1) and treated cells with E2 to compare the proliferation ability upon increasing concentrations of MSA treatment in ER+ and ER silenced MCF7 cells. This evidence concerns the gene ESR1 and breast carcinoma.
