Intriguingly, in the subgroup analysis stratified by cancer type, the IL-1B -511T allele showed evidence of an association with increased cervical cancer risk (dominant model: OR = 1.74, 95% CI: 1.35–2.23), but demonstrated a protective role in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (dominant model: OR = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.47–0.99). This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and cancer.
