NFKB1 and atherosclerosis: Results of previous studies showed that p65 and p50 were induced in the nuclei of vessels in response to arterial injury.3–5 Expression of NF‐κB was also detectable in the nuclei within human atherosclerotic lesions.6–7 Moreover, inhibition of the NF‐κB pathway reduced neointima formation following vascular injury.8–13 These results suggest that NF‐κB is a potential therapeutic target for vascular diseases including atherosclerosis.
