Livers from the Fxr KO displayed higher degree of steatosis, perisinusoidal/sinusoidal foam cells, ballooning degeneration and lobular inflammation compared to WT mice, indicative of liver dysfunction and NASH-like steatohepatitis in the Fxr KO mice (Fig 5B). Here, NR1H4 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
