Diet-induced obesity in dams during pre-mating, gestation and lactation periods produced offspring with noticeable BM gain, high levels of plasma and hepatic TGs, high levels of pro-inflammatory and low levels of anti-inflammatory adipokines, impairment of glucose metabolism, abnormal fat pad mass distribution, higher numbers of larger adipocytes, hepatic steatosis, high mRNA expression of lipogenic proteins and its target genes concomitant to decreased expression of PPARalpha and CPT-1 in liver, and diminished expression of PPARgamma and adiponectin in WAT. This evidence concerns the gene ADIPOQ and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
