A study of peritoneal leukocyte influx in a model of MCP-1 induced peritonitis, in which macrophages are recruited to the peritoneal cavity upon MCP-1 injection which mimics macrophage recruitment to the atherosclerotic plaque, revealed as expected an increased presence of F4/80+/CCR2+ macrophages (P<0.05) in the peritoneal cavity of the control mice. This evidence concerns the gene CCR2 and peritonitis.
