Though there seems to be some evidence that paucicellular lymphocytic colitis may exist, there is recent immunohistochemical evidence that it may not be regarded as a member of the microscopic colitis family as some key features of paucicellular lymphocytic colitis, like negative CD25 and FOXP3 immunostaining, clearly distinguishe paucicellular colitis from microscopic colitis [7, 8]. The gene discussed is FOXP3; the disease is lymphocytic colitis.
