Considering that UHRF1 binds to methylated promoter of p16INK4A[54] and that UHRF1 interacts with DNMT1 and regulates its expression [36], it is likely that G extract and luteolin induce in cervical cancer cells a down-regulation of UHRF1 with subsequent decrease of DNMT1 expression causing demethylation of p16INK4A promoter. The gene discussed is CDKN2A; the disease is cervical carcinoma.
