In peritoneal dialysis patients, Ahmad et al. [20] showed that both the dialysate chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 18(CCL18) and the serum CCL18 were significantly higher in patients who developed encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS); subsequently, Bellón et al. [21] proved that the capacity of M2 macrophages to stimulate fibroblast proliferation was proportional to the mRNA level of CCL18, and they believed that M2 macrophages may participate in human peritoneal fibrosis through the CCL18 production. Here, CCL18 is linked to Peritoneal Fibrosis.
