We have preliminary data (not shown) to demonstrate that the anti-ICAM-1 antibodies purified from scleroderma patients are able to activate MAPK pathways in HUVEC, in agreement with our previous findings with monoclonal anti-ICAM-1 antibodies (Lawson et al., 1999; Lawson et al., 2001). The gene discussed is ICAM1; the disease is scleroderma.
