One interesting observation of our study is the correlation between increased cholesterol accumulation and increased expression of Ezh2. Overexpression of EZH2 is associated with aggressive prostate carcinomas in patients [24] and has been shown to control prostate cell proliferation through epigenetic silencing of the tumor suppressors NKX3.1 and MSMB[25], [26]. The gene discussed is NKX3-1; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
