TP53 and neoplasm: To determine whether the variant influences the individual risk of urologic cancer and/or its progression, Wu et al. analyzed allelic frequencies of the TP53 codon 72 polymorphism in 85 renal cell carcinoma patients, 151 urothelial cancer patients, 33 testicular cancer patients, 28 prostatic cancer patients and 56 patients without neoplastic disease, using PCR-RFLP; no association was found between three independent genotypes and tumor grade or staging (40).
