The enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) has been associated with carcinogenesis and overexpression of COX-2 protein has been reported in a number of cancers including hepato-cellularcarcinoma (5), gastric cancer (6), esophageal cancer (7) colon cancer (8) and cervical carcinoma (9). This evidence concerns the gene PTGS2 and cervical carcinoma.
