IL6 and liver cancer: Naugler et al (54) showed that the genetic deletion of IL-6 decreased the incidence of liver cancer and the presence of estradiol (E2) conferred protection from developing liver cancer even in IL-6-deficient mice after IL-6 was exogenously restored (IL-6-deficient mice with exogenously restored IL-6 developed liver cancer in male mice and in ovariectomized female mice).
