Of note, all three patients with pancreatic cancer were found to have mtp53 tumors, and all three patients with renal cell carcinoma were found to have wtp53. Mutant p53 tumors metastasized more frequently to the liver than did wtp53 bearing tumors (69.2% vs. 43.0%) (p = 0.002). Here, TP53 is linked to hereditary clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
