Of note, all three patients with pancreatic cancer were found to have mtp53 tumors, and all three patients with renal cell carcinoma were found to have wtp53. Mutant p53 tumors metastasized more frequently to the liver than did wtp53 bearing tumors (69.2% vs. 43.0%) (p = 0.002). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
