Consequently, several pan-PI3K and dual PI3K/mTOR inhibitors, in particular BKM120 and BEZ235, are undergoing phase I clinical development to assess safety, dose, and preliminary efficacy in patients with advanced leukemias, relapsed or refractory acute lymphoblastic and myelocytic leukemia (see text footnote 2).
