We identified two PLUNC (palate lung and nasal epithelium clone protein) family members, SPLUNC1 (Short palate, lung and nasal epithelium clone 1) and LPLUNC1 (long-palate, lung and nasal epithelium clone 1) that were down-regulated in NPC, suggesting that the abnormal expression of SPLUNC1 and LPLUNC1 may be important molecular events in NPC development [9]. This evidence concerns the gene BPIFA1 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
