Although a great deal of evidence suggests the indirect renoprotective effect of various drugs and drug targets such as RAS blockade, ROS inhibition, alpha-tocopherol, and PPARα and PPARγ agonists secondary to inhibition of the NF-κB pathway [11], [13], [23], [24], [25], [26], [27], there is little evidence suggesting that direct inhibition of the NF-κB pathway has a beneficial effect in diabetic nephropathy. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is diabetic kidney disease.
