Currently, four VEGF receptor inhibitors (sorafenib, sunitinib, pazopanib and axitinib), one anti-VEGF monoclonal antibody (bevacizumab) and two inhibitors of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway (temsirolimus and everolimus) have been approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of advanced RCC.
