Of these six genes, TCF7L2, TSPAN8, and FTO have been previously reported to be associated with T2D [25], [27]–[31], whereas other three genes (i.e., L3MBTL3, CELF4, and RUNX1) have not; thus, they likely represent new susceptibility genes for T2D in WTCCC GWAS dataset. This evidence concerns the gene CELF4 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
