SOX2 amplification and overexpression were recently reported to be associated with better outcome in SCC [17], but with poor outcome in early stage lung ADC (n = 104) [18] The latter findings support the notion that SOX2 overexpression serves as positive prognostic indicator only in lung SCC and points towards a complex and dissimilar role of this transcription factor in the biology of the two major lung cancer subtypes. Here, SOX2 is linked to lung cancer.
